Rideau Canal, Ottawa
Did you know that the Rideau Canal is the oldest continuously operated canal system in North America? Dating back to the 19th century, the canal links lakes and rivers from Ottawa to Kingston, for a distance of over 2,000 kilometers (125 miles). The canal was one of the greatest engineering feats of its day, requiring the construction of 24 dams and 46 locks.
